Healthy Retirement Residence Living
As a medical journalist, W. Gifford-Jones, MD, has written ten books and more than 2,500 articles about health topics ranging from the common cold to complex surgery. But he doesn’t stop at the boundaries of medicine. His purview is the way people lead their lives and the tough personal and societal issues that impact health and well-being.
Now, like a modern-day Helios, the Greek sun god, Gifford-Jones offers a testament to the potential for living well at 100+ years of age. Charging with an unrelenting drive through his 100th trip around the sun, Gifford-Jones has retirement residences in his crosshairs and the focus of his scope on the life-changing and hazardous transition to retirement living.
From common health problems to common sense solutions, this delightful book incorporates more than two dozen chapters on topics such as:
- Why caution is needed when making new friends
- How an in-house pub can promote good health
- When bathroom accidents are waiting to happen
- Asking if it’s Alzheimer’s disease or forgetfulness
- A healthy rule: “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”
